Happy birthday, Estonia!

February 24, 2008

Today is the 90th birthday of the Republic of Estonia. Our independence was actually announced on February 23rd 1918 for the first time, but it was not until the following day that it was done in the capital. That is why today is more important, at least for calendars and people who like calendars. I like calendars.

I would like to say something great and wonderful about this place (Estonia, that is) and the people that live here, but I just can’t find the words. I guess (or at least hope) this is forgivable, since English is not my first language and I am plain terrified of exposing myself while using it on a public site like this, where anyone could verbally kill me for such horrid use of their language.

To tell you the truth, this is genuinely strange. I write in English all the time, I just never show these things to anyone. The fear of being seen and read makes my brain freeze and stop functioning, apparently.

I’m going now, since I’m hungry for food and coffee, but I’ll be back.

P.S. My blog has not gotten any views yet so I shouldn’t really be worried about anyone reading this, but I still am. You never know, someone might get lost in the great Intarwebz and accidentally stumble upon my little corner in the blogging world. That scares me. *shivers*
